How Showrunner Dustin Ferrer Got to Catch the New 'Dr. Seuss's Red Fish, Blue Fish' Show | Animation Magazine

This week Netflix premieres Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish, a new animated series based on the preschool classic, which has sold over six million copies sold worldwide. ... The 5 x 25-minute show is developed by Dustin Ferrer and exec produced and show-run by Ferrer and Steven Conner. Dustin Ferrer: Back in 2020, Netflix executives Heather Tilert and Ashley Brennan approached me about developing and show-running multiple Dr. Seuss properties. It was a full circle moment for me because, long before working in kids’ TV, I wrote my college thesis on Dr. Seuss. I still feel incredibly honored that Netflix entrusted me with bringing these Seuss books to life. Dr Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish.I love that Red Fish, Blue Fish feels so different from any other show I’ve ever worked on. The curriculum for the series is Oppositional Concepts and the only words that our characters speak are the opposite words for that episode. So for each story, we had to create a Buster Keaton-ish, slapstick, silent comedy.I’m really proud that we managed to make an absurd, funny, educational show for preschoolers that anyone can watch and understand. What is the toughest part of opening up a brief, hugely popular book and adapting it into an animated series for young audiences today? I think the toughest part is staying true to the original property while also making it your own. In the book, all we ever learn about Red Fish and Blue Fish is that they’re red and blue.We had to develop brand-new characters, while making sure they fit in the Seuss universe. The one repeating line in One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is “funny things are everywhere,” which also helped us define the show.

Fish tracks show earliest adaptations for moving on land

The Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute reports a Lower Devonian (419 to 393 million years ago) fossilized trackway in the Holy Cross Mountains, Poland, attributed to dipnoan fish. In the study, "Traces of dipnoan fish document the earliest adaptations of vertebrates to move on land," published in Scientific Reports, researchers analyzed newly excavated trace fossils and 3D scans to interpret the locomotion and snout anchoring attributed to dipnoan fishes. Field teams worked two sections in small, abandoned sandstone quarries at Ujazd and Kopiec near Iwaniska in the central Holy Cross Mountains, about 190 km south of Warsaw, within Lower Devonian (middle-upper Emsian) siliciclastic marginal marine deposits. Here, sandstones formed in a marginal marine environment showing numerous manifestations of emersion and settlement by terrestrial vegetation.Fossilized trackways from Lower Devonian Poland show dipnoan fish exhibiting early adaptations for land movement, predating known terrestrial tetrapod locomotion by about 10 million years. Trace fossils indicate snout anchoring and fin use for leverage, with evidence of possible left-handedness.Citation: Fish tracks show earliest adaptations for moving on land (2025, August 19) retrieved 26 August 2025 from https://phys.org/news/2025-08-fish-tracks-earliest.htmlThe Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute reports a Lower Devonian (419 to 393 million years ago) fossilized trackway in the Holy Cross Mountains, Poland, attributed to dipnoan fish. Fish (TV Series 1977–1978) - IMDb

Fish: Created by Danny Arnold, Chris Hayward, Tony Sheehan. With Abe Vigoda, Florence Stanley, Barry Gordon, John Cassisi. A grumpy New York cop and his wife adopt five rowdy foster children. Phil Fish ... Mrs. Lester ... Joseph V. Perry ... Herbert Jefferson Jr. ... First of all, this wasn't a bad series and it had potential. It wasn't "Ethnic Mismatch #644" as one review said, but it proves that people of different races can live together under the same roof. Abe Vigoda is an excellent actor and sadly, he hasn't had nearly enough exposure. ... This was a pretty decent spin off from "Barney Miller". This show pretty much gave Abe Vigoda a chance to expand his character of Fish from more of a "sad sack" to being more of a grouch with a heart of gold. This was due to the fact that for the first few months that this show was on he was still working on "Barney Miller". Kudos to Vigoda for his hard work on both shows and not missing a beat. ... Fish was a spin-off of the Barney Miller TV series, with Abe Vigoda as the star. The rest of them are in the witness protection program. I found this show on Crackle app, and tried to watch the first episode, and it reminded me of how incredibly lame this show was. I could not get past when all the annoying kids arrive and start yelling at Fish and his wife. And the character Fish was an amusing grumpy old man, played by Abe Vigoda. But this spinoff may be the WORST SITCOM EVER! Imagine a '70s era sitcom with all bad clothing, lame jokes and canned laughter and just add in five extremely annoying smart-aleck kids: you get this show.

Fish (American TV series) - Wikipedia

Fish was directed by Jeremiah Morris and aired from February 1977 through June 1978 on ABC. According to Bridges, just 12 during the show's second season, Fish was cancelled after Vigoda demanded more money for a third season than the producers were willing to pay. Miller and Cassisi both had appeared previously as the same characters on season three of Barney Miller, usually getting in trouble with the law and Fish having to supervise them. Bridges had appeared as a different character during the first season of Barney Miller. During the show's first season, frequent references were made to Fish's job as a detective and his colleagues at the 12th Precinct.Creator Danny Arnold was originally against the idea of giving the character of Fish his own spin-off, believing that Fish was a character that was better suited to the precinct. Originally, Arnold agreed to the spin-off on the condition that Vigoda continued to play his Fish character on the show in half of the episodes of the third season, as well as future seasons. However, Vigoda insisted on quitting Barney Miller and staying on just Fish, wanting to be the star of his own series. "I found myself with a very unhappy actor on my hands. Abe would walk around the set like a man in shock. Who was I to deprive an actor of this once-in-a-lifetime break? Finally I said, 'Okay, just stay through the third year of Barney Miller, and we'll go with your show, too," recalled Arnold.ABC was publicly contemplating a Fish spin-off as early as October 1975. The initial premise was to show Fish's home life with "his wife, his daughter, and his daughter's suitor" with only occasional visits to the 12th Precinct. The intention was to have a pilot air as an episode of Barney Miller in early 1976 with a series debut that fall.Fish was directed by Jeremiah Morris and aired from February 1977 through June 1978 on ABC. I once saw the guys on tanked put six oscars and eight blood parrots in a 45-gallon tank. I stopped watching the show after that. It's just ridiculous. I've heard they take some of the fish out after the show but I'm not sure how true that is and even then you can't even keep 1 Oscar in a 45gI think 'Fish Center' is the most mind-blowing show I've seen in recent years.that skateboard ramp tank pissed me off, you know every time a board went up it those fish got scared. ... The first two shows that come to mind are Fish Tank Kings and Tanked, I personally prefer Fish Tank Kings. Unfortunately, both shows have a lot of forced drama/scripted nonsense, and the occasional glaring stocking error/misinformation, but they can both be fun to watch if you don't think too hard.

But a couple of years ago during summer, I would stay awake all night and watch TV, and I would drop everything to watch Fish Hooks. I loved the ending with the mouse and the snake, and I loved Milo's annoying personality, and how adorable Oscar was.I hardly remember anything because when you're a kid, two years is equivalent to five for some older person, but I do remember how happy Fish Hooks made me. Even if it has poor quality and it's not for adults, it was a kids show and it served its purpose - At least for me.So all in all, I recommend this show because it'll get you hooked (pun intended) on the characters and the relationships. And it's just funny. ... I saw the commercials for fish hooks and thought 'wow, it's just going to be another retarded show on Disney channel' I mean, with all of the ridiculous shows on there now, I wasn't surprised that they wouldn't put another bad one on.

10 Fish Facts That'll Surprise You!

Other species of fish work together to hunt prey. Fish, such as groupers and coral trout, will send a visual signal to show other fish the location of a hidden prey. Together, they will catch prey at a higher rate than when hunting alone. Groupers don’t just cooperate with other fish. In some cases, their clients are fish who’d otherwise eat them. So, to help appease them, the wrasses will often stroke their clients with their fins. Studies have shown that being stroked by cleaner fish is not only a pleasurable feeling for client fish, it also helps them to relieve stress — almost like a therapeutic massage.Fish are thought to lack intelligence and emotional capability, but they are sentient creatures. Check out these amazing facts!Fish play diverse and significant roles in our society. Here in Canada, they’re the third most popular pet after cats and dogs, and the second most common research model after mice. Millions are caught recreationally across the country every year, while at least a billion more are farmed and caught commercially.First, the groupers make gestures to ask the eels to join them on a hunt — a kind of fish sign language. Then, once out hunting, they adopt complementary roles: the eels can squeeze into crevices too small for the groupers, while the groupers are faster swimmers in open water.

U.S. marine fish stocks show improvements in 2022 | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Latest resources from NOAA support sustainable fishery management in a changing climate In 2022, U.S. fisheries data revealed that 93% of stocks are not subject to overfishing and 81% are not overfished. These numbers show slight improvements compared to the 2021 figures of 92% and 80%, respectively. Positive trends were seen this year with the number of stocks on the overfishing list decreasing by two stocks to 24, and the number of overfished stocks decreasing by three stocks to 48.“This annual report reveals the U.S. remains a global leader in maintaining the sustainable fisheries that drive the blue economy, support coastal communities and play a key role in marine ecosystems,” said Rick Spinrad, Ph.D., NOAA administrator. “NOAA and our partners continue to build on the country’s successful fisheries management approach by advancing policies and plans that help address changing conditions.” · The latest data show that U.S.NOAA Fisheries also implemented new island-based fishery management plans for Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. John, and St. Croix this year, consolidating existing Caribbean fishery management plans and bringing 32 new stocks under NOAA’s management authority. These new plans account for differences between fishing sectors, available markets for harvested products, fishermen and their fishing communities, and the social and cultural attributes unique to each island area.
