Top Comment: Suffering from success, I did really like that show and I'm not even into fishing.

Any documentaries about common fish species? Like a Nature documentary where they show the life cycle of fish or cover the ecosystem.

Main Post:

Planet Earth and other nature documentaries cover a lot of more exotic species and locations, but I was wondering if there was a good documentary that showed the life of more common fish (in the US for me).

Not as exciting as sharks, but a documentary showing the life of a Redfish or Flounder would be really interesting. Or even just the coastal saltwater ecosystem. It'd be cool to see and learn about shrimp or the mullet run.

Anyone know about something like this? I feel like it has to exist. I'm in coastal North Carolina so anything about here would be awesome. Searching online seems to bring up a lot of youtuber fisherman. I did find this series which does look promising: https://www.pbs.org/video/fishy-science-tvsaml/

Top Comment: I think I found some similar stuff on YouTube once. You might try searching there.

Made a spreadsheet to show if fish fillets are worth upgrading or not, feedback welcome

Top Comment: I wouldn't use sell price, or at least show both end of the spectrum. If I plan to trade for the 5 daily ambergis, I'll post an order of 50 ascended fillet (or 1250 rare fillet or whatever) one day in advance, and by the next day I'll have materials to do do my trades.

I was asked to show my fish finder setup using the Garmin striker 4.

Top Comment: Nice setup. While it's bulky I really like that the whole thing is "grab and go". I'll bet the only time you even need to fidget with it is to charge the battery. Otherwise it looks like you can just drop that rig in the cockpit of your kayak and roll!

Any recipes that really show off a high quality tinned fish?

Main Post:

Hey all, I got a tin of really nice Spanish conservas and I'm a little tired of just having them with crackers and cheese. I'd like to do a recipe for a full dinner that really shows off the fish. Who's got one they like?

Top Comment:

Fishcakes are nice.

Make some mashed potato and cool it in the fridge, then once it's cool add your fish and two raw eggs.

Cook the mashed mixture in a frying pan with butter until it's a golden brown patty.

Serve with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.

The "fish out of water" ...

Main Post:

I started watching the show because I thought Sly as an old Italian mobster in Tulsa (after 20 years in prison) would be the shows focus. Watching him screw up while trying to assimilate had me interested.

It was that way for 2 episodes and they abandoned it to become a silly, rural version of Sopranos.

The show is still campy fun at times, but it had so much more potential IMO.

Top Comment:

I think he's nailing the old time mobster thing, they've tried a few things, like the grandkids school, or the HOA guy but they were kind of flat.

Pot 🍭 was funny though
